Everything Everywhere All at Once

My brain is absolutely going crazy after watching Everything Everywhere All AT Once! To start off, absurdism is the human philosophy stating that life has no meaning and looking for meaning is useless because of that lack of meaning. I can certainly say with confidence that this movie expresses the idea of absurdism well as the basis of their reality is centered around ever-changing laws and boundaries. It is completely absurd and irrational to believe that their universe is comprehensible due to the constant bouncing from universe to universe. One universe is explored, then it gone, then it’s back again. Things that have meaning also have order and it is evident that the universe that Evelyn lives in is anything but orderly. This evokes the idea that if there is no meaning in life, everything done in that life is meaningless no matter how significant or insignificant it may be.

I confuse myself just trying to explain this concept to you guys, but I hope you’re still following. This concept of insignificant acts is demonstrated through the wired actions that are performed when trying to jump universes. For example, an irrelevant action such as saying “I love you” to an IRS lady gave Evelyn the skills from another universe to be able to fight. Everything and everywhere in this movie has no rhyme or reason and is completely unexpected and chaotic. I think the creators of this film intended for that to fully embrace the theme of absurdism in this movie. The realization that Evelyn has at the ends embraces acceptance of the fact that nothing matters, which ultimately acts as the solution to her troubles. This movie certainly succeeds in conveying their philosophical message as I began to question what I think to be true at the end.
